AURORA, Colo. — The judge in the case against James Holmes, the former University of Colorado (CU) graduate student and suspect in the Aurora movie theater massacre, has ordered that prosecutors be allowed access to various documents from Holmes’ time at the university.
Prosecutors believe that prior to the July 20 shootings, which left 12 dead and 58 injured, the CU Police Department opened a file on Holmes, reports the Denver Post. University psychiatrist Dr. Lynne Fenton reportedly contacted a CU police officer with concerns about Holmes several weeks prior to the shooting.
In addition to CU police records and police intelligence files, Judge William Sylvester ordered that prosecutors receive access to Holmes’ CU application, transcript, records detailing his academic performance and reasons for withdrawing from the university.
