TROY, Mich. — Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital was placed on lockdown Thursday morning following a shooting that occurred on the hospital’s campus. A suspect is currently in custody after a manhunt led to their apprehension.
The incident, believed to be targeted, took place between two Corewell Health employees in a parking garage at the health system campus, according to the Troy Police Department. During a morning press conference, Lt. Ben Hancock of the department provided key updates on the situation.

Police were notified shortly after 7 a.m. by hospital security following reports of gunshots. Investigators determined that a handgun had been fired five times during the altercation.
A 25-year-old male victim was struck twice in the arm. His vehicle also sustained damage from the gunfire. The victim was treated in the hospital’s emergency department and is reported to be in stable condition.
By approximately 9:30 a.m., authorities apprehended the suspect in Macomb County. Police have not disclosed the suspect’s identity or provided details about what may have led to the incident. Officials stated they were able to identify the shooter based on information provided by the victim.
Corewell Health Urges Public to Avoid Hospital; Local Schools, Daycares Placed on Soft Lockdown
Following the incident, Corewell Health released a statement urging patients with scheduled services to avoid coming to the hospital and to contact their respective departments directly for further guidance.
The hospital’s statement read, in part, “Patients with services scheduled should not come to the hospital at this time. Patients may call the department where they were scheduled for service directly.”

Local schools and daycares were placed on soft lockdown as a precaution while authorities searched for the suspect.
At 9:45 a.m., following the suspect’s arrest, the Troy Police Department announced on social media that operations at Corewell Health would be returning to normal.
The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement works to uncover the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
