Surgeon Accused of Stealing Medical Equipment

MIAMI, Fla. — A surgeon at Jackson Memorial Hospital was arrested on June 8 after he was accused of stealing medical equipment from the facility.

Dr. Nir Hus was changed with two counts of grand theft for allegedly raiding the medical storage room and filling duffel bags with medical equipment, NBC News reports. Surveillance cameras captured him taking equipment on three occasions.

Hus was stopped by a security guard when exiting the storage room. Hus told the guard he needed the equipment to perform surgery. However, Hus was not scheduled to operate that day.
