JONESBORO, Ga. — Clayton County Schools head of security, John Taylor Walker Jr., pled guilty to bribery on Feb. 3. Walker allegedly offered campaign contributions to Clayton Chief Magistrate Daphne Walker in an attempt to obtain a government contract.
Walker hoped to provide probation monitoring services for the local courts, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. However, Judge Walker (no relation to the suspect) reported the bribe to the district attorney and did not accept the funds.
Clayton County Schools officials say they were unaware of Walker’s outside work with a probation services company. The district did not confirm whether or not he was still employed by the school system.
Walker accepted a plea deal to serve a five-year sentence on probation for felony bribery. He will also pay a $750 fine.
