NEW YORK — According to Columbia University security statistics, there were 121 incidents of students being disciplined for drug-related infractions in 2009, but none were reported to police.
On Dec. 7, five students were arrested for peddling LSD, Ecstasy and marijuana out of fraternities and campus dormitories to undercover officers. Prior to this, the only person to be arrested on drug-related charges in 2010 was a school janitor, the New York Post reports.
A former security officer from the university told the news source that Columbia has covered up numerous incidents of campus drug use. A maintenance person claimed that the university has a double standard; one for students and one for employees.
Robert Hornsby, a Columbia spokesman, said that the university reports student crime to the NYPD, but was unable to account for the 121 unreported drug incidents.
