U. of Redlands Security Head Suspected of Child Molestation

REDLANDS, Calif.—The University of Redlands director of public safety has been arrested on suspicion of child molestation. 

Bill Cranfill, the university’s public safety director, has been under investigation of committing a lewd act with a girl under the age of 14 in 2008, reports The Press-Enterprise. The suspect, a retired Redlands police lieutenant, had served more than 30 years on the force. 

No information has been released on the victim’s identity or details about the case. 

Cranfill, who was serving as the interim director of public safety, was placed on administrative leave. His bail has been set for $100,000.
