CLEVELAND – The former graduate student who went on a shooting spree at Case Western Reserve University in 2003 was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Feb. 17.
Biswanath Halder, 65, said at his sentencing that the school forced him to resort to violence. He also said the victims, 30-year-old student Norman Wallace who died as a result of the shooting and two other men who were injured during the attack, were innocent bystanders.
Halder was convicted in December of murder and 196 other charges stemming from his 2003 seven-hour shooting rampage at Case Western Reserve University. He broke into the university’s business school in 2003 and randomly started shooting because he believed a computer lab employee had hacked into his Web site and deleted 1,100 files.
