Five teacher-coaches have been suspended with pay from Sayreville War Memorial High School in New Jersey as a result of a football team hazing incident, according to ABC-News report.
Five of the teachers, including, reportedly head coach George Najjar, will be the subject of the district’s next school board meeting, Oct. 21.
Seven players, ranging in ages from 15 to 17, are facing charges in the alleged hazing incidents where four victims were reportedly held against their will on four different occasions and touched improperly. All of those charged have been suspended from school and have already appeared in court. Three of the accused are facing various sex crime charges, while charges against the others include aggravated sexual assault to conspiracy and criminal restraint.
According to the report, the County Prosecutor’s Office hasn’t announced whether the students will be charged as adults. After the charges were made, Sayreville canceled its football season.
