A former University of Michigan Health System employee was indicted on three counts of child pornography Wednesday.
58-year-old Steven Germinder was charged after police allegedly found thousands of images of child pornography on his home computer. Germinder had worked for the University of Michigan until May of 2014, when coworkers allegedly saw an image of bestiality on his work computer, according to mlive.com.
Germinder’s coworkers then tipped off University Police, who reportedly found searches related to child pornography and more bestiality when they searched his computer. The county Sheriff’s office then issued a search warrant to Germinder’s home, where court records show authorities found roughly 3,000 images of child pornography. There was also allegedly evidence Germinder was sharing content with others from 2010 to 2014.
Germinder remains in custody and faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
