Some school and law enforcement officials have begun warning parents about the growing number of so-called secret mobile apps.
The apps, which require the person operating the iPhone to enter a password before accessing certain files, are being used by students to hide information from their parents, according to ABC News.
The private apps can look like other phone functions like calculators, but can be used to hide photos, videos and other content.
The trend concerned one Alabama county enough that the district attorney took to Facebook to warn parents about the harm they can cause students who unknowingly endanger themselves with their internet activities.
Parents can prevent use of the apps by requiring parental approval before any app is downloaded.
