1st Day of School Shooting Results in Evacuation

BALTIMORE — A Perry Hall High School student was shot Monday on the first day of school, prompting an evacuation.

The injured student, whose identity and extent of injury was not revealed, was taken to an area hospital, The Baltimore Sun reports. Another student was taken into custody in connection with the shooting. Two school staff members reportedly tackled the shooter and pinned him up against a vending machine.

Students were escorted to a nearby shopping center to be picked up by their parents.
