OXFORD, Ohio —A third Miami University sorority has been placed on probation as a result of wild behavior at a spring formal event.
The Beta Delta chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha was placed on a two year probation as a result of the April 23 outing where partygoers allegedly drank, harassed, threatened and yelled obscenities at a bus driver with A Savannah Nite Limousine Service on a trip to and from the Cincinnati Zoo, according to Cincinnati.com.
The driver had to pull the bus over at a nearby gas station as a result of the passengers shouting derogatory slurs at him and poking him in the back of the head. The students were ordered off the bus as a result. Additionally, passengers left behind trash and vomit on the bus.
School officials did not include reimbursement for the damage to the bus in their sanction for the university.
The decision comes after the university’s Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Woman chapter was suspended for a year as a result of unruly behavior during the organization’s spring formal. Additionally, Alpha Xi Delta faces a two-year suspension for its destruction of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center at a March 26 formal.
