HEMET, Calif. — Eight students were injured when a pickup truck drove into them while they were in a crosswalk in front of Hemet High School.
An 18-year-old student named Daniel Carrillo was behind the wheel of the pickup truck, The Huffington Post reports. California Highway Patrol investigators are looking into claims that the truck was having mechanical problems at the time of the accident.
Three of the students struck by the truck were initially listed in critical condition, but now have good prognoses, according to CHP spokesman Darren Meyer.
