NORFOLK, Va. — Officials at Old Dominion University (ODU) have asked the Norfolk Sheriff’s Department to help patrol the campus as a result of a recent spate of crime near the university.
Since the beginning of the school year, students, faculty and staff have been concerned with the increase of robberies in and around campus, reports HamptonRoads.com. To combat this problem, university President John Broderick has asked the ODU police chief to work with the Norfolk police chief to increase patrols in the area.
Additionally, the Norfolk City Council has approved the construction of a joint police facility, which would be adjacent to the campus.
