A former Cedars Sinai Medical Center emergency department doctor has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting one of his female co-workers.

Dr. Anshul M. Gandhi, 34, was arrested January 23 and released on $100,000 bail the following day, reports the Canyon News. He’s been charged with forced oral copulation of a co-worker inside her Los Angeles apartment.

Cedars Sinai said in a statement that Gandhi was only a contract physician at its Los Angeles medical center and never an employee. The doctor’s attorney says Gandhi voluntarily resigned earlier this month to avoid a hostile work environment.

NBC Los Angeles reports that a spokesperson for the hospital wouldn’t say if Cedars Sinai had received any complaints about Gandhi’s behavior prior to his arrest, but several employees said that several women had come forward to report alleged sexual misconduct by the doctor. The employees who came forward spoke on condition of anonymity.
