Published: February 6, 2011

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Three violent attacks on female students from the College of Charleston have taken place in neighborhoods near campus since Jan. 21. Two women were punched and another was beaten and raped.

Police say the attacks have several similarities but have not found enough evidence to determine whether or not they are connected, The State reports. All three women were attacked by a white male who was close to 6 feet tall.

The first victim was punched in the face while walking downtown on Jan. 21. The second woman was struck repeatedly and thrown into the sidewalk. She suffered multiple injuries, including a broken right hand and swollen nose and eye.

The third victim was also punched in the face before she was forcibly dragged into a parking lot and sexually assaulted.
