Police say the principal of a prep school in Detroit was shot at as he ran into his school building on the second day of classes Sept. 7.
A spokesperson for the Detroit Public Schools Community District says the shooting occurred at Detroit Preparatory High School just before 7 a.m.
The principal was shot at three times as he exited his car and entered the school building, with bullets hitting the back fender and multiple windows of the vehicle, reports clickondetroit.com.
The principal was not wounded and called police immediately after the incident. The Detroit Police Department is assisting the Detroit Public Schools Police Department in the investigation.

Police believe the shooter was hiding in trees along the perimeter of the high school’s campus after K-9 Units tracked the scent about 200 yards from the vehicle.
Police say they have a person of interest in the case, but that person is not yet in custody. The suspect is a graduate of the school who was told yesterday he could no longer volunteer on the campus because of a problem.
“There’s not enough information to say [the principal] was targeted,” Detroit Police Chief James Craig says.
The principal declined to comment.
