A former Houston middle school teacher was sentenced to ten years in prison Friday.
Alexandria Vera had previously pled guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child after her relationship with a student was revealed last year, reports fox26houston.com.
Vera met the student in 2015 during a summer school session and began a relationship with him while he was still enrolled at Stovall Middle School.

At one point during the relationship, Vera was pregnant with the student’s child, but later terminated the pregnancy. Vera claimed the boy’s parents condoned the relationship.
The former teacher had already been found to have violated the conditions of her $100,000 bond, which required her to stay away from the student.
Vera could be released from prison in as early as five years with good behavior.
