A student at Kansas State University accidentally shot himself in his dorm room Sunday night.
The 19-year-old student was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, according to cjonline.com.
Now Kansas State police are investigating the situation to determine if criminal charges should be brought.
The incident occurred in Goodnow Hall at 8:10 p.m.

Campus police responded to reports of a medical situation and determined the student had inadvertently discharged his firearm and there was no ongoing threat to the campus.
Guns are not allowed in Kansas State buildings or residence halls, although a new school policy that goes into effect in July will allow concealed handguns on campus.
There is currently a legislative effort underway to repeal that law and many faculty and student organizations have spoken out against it.
