KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A man has been arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting a Saint Luke’s Medical Center employee and trying to shoot two of the hospital’s security officers Friday night.
Maikol Valdes has been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action, reports KCTV5.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. when Valdes attempted to push his way into a restricted area. A Saint Luke’s Medical Center employee stopped him. Most reports say the employee was assaulted, but the hospital told KCTV5 no assault happened.

After the encounter with the employee, hospital security officers found the suspect in the medical center’s café. As the security officers attempted to arrest Valdes, he grabbed one of their guns and fired a shot, reports KSHB.
No one was injured by the gunfire, and the security officers were able to handcuff the suspect before law enforcement arrived.
