Occidental College Online Rape Report Form Flooded With False Reports

Published: December 18, 2013

LOS ANGELES — Occidental College’s interim Title IX coordinator says Internet trolls are sending hundreds of false rape claims to the school’s online form that is designated for the reporting of sexual assaults.

The college was flooded with 400 assault reports in 36 hours, reports the Huffington Post.

The online form was created in response to federal complaints by students, faculty and alumni claiming the school violated Title IX and the Clery Act. A “Men’s Rights” Web site reported on the form, and users suggested spamming it.

In the spam reports, some of the respondents named included the college itself, “feminists” and  “Fatty McFatFat.”
