NORFOLK, Va. — Old Dominion University (ODU) will offer dedicated on-campus housing for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students and their supporters this fall.
ODU will be the third university in the state to offer such housing, The Virginian-Pilot reports. Charles Lowman, ODU’s assistant director for housing and residence life, said the new housing is intended to help LGBT students find roommates who will be comfortable with them, and convey the message that ODU’s community is welcoming and diverse.
Called Lavender House, the new housing will be located in an existing residence hall.
