Two school safety officers were injured trying to calm down a student with a knife at a New York high school April 21.

The officers were responding to a report of an upset student in a classroom of Gaynor McCown High School in Staten Island when the 18-year-old student attacked three officers with a three-inch blade, according to m.nydailynews.com.

The student was eventually taken into custody, but not before one officer suffered a cut on her hand and the student bit another officer.  A third officer was also struck by the blade but it only cut through the officer’s sweater and did not break the skin.

The injured officers were taken to Staten Island University Hospital. No charges have been filed against the student.
