Police are reporting that more than 50 computers have been stolen from the University of South Carolina (USC) Upstate campus since August.
To combat the problem, campus officials are planning to put officers undercover to blend in with students to figure out who is stealing the computers, reports FoxCarolina.com.
Since August as many as 58 computers have been stolen, along with several projectors. Authorities said the stolen computers have cost the university as much as $40,000.
Students and faculty have been asked to immediately report suspicious activity.
Police are working with the FBI on the case. Once an arrest is made, charges of grand larceny and burglary could be filed, which can send a person to jail for 10 years.
