TUCSON, Ariz. – Crime in the University of Arizona at Tucson’s residence halls has increased by 49% from last year, according to an analysis of campus police records.
In 2011, there were 574 incidents of crime in university residence halls, the Daily Wildcat reports. There were 386 incidents in 2010.
The rise in crime is not unexpected, according to police. Two new residence halls have opened and the freshman class has increased by approximately 300 students each year for the past three years.
