A sophomore football player at the University of Southern California was charged with rape Sept. 15 in connection with an alleged assault that occurred in July.
Osa Masina, 19, was charged with two felony counts of forcible sodomy and a felony count of rape after a woman claimed he sexually assaulted her at a party in Utah over the summer.
Masina, a linebacker at USC, was removed from the team and has been asked to leave campus, reports ABC News.
The charges are the result of an investigation that followed a woman’s report that she was assaulted after passing out at a party on July 26.

The 19-year-old woman told police she had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana at the party when she fell asleep on the couch. Later in the night, the victim awoke to Masina on top of her. The next morning, the victim woke up wearing only a bra with a blanket draped over her.
“Consent is not assumed,” Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill says. “And if a person says no or a person is not in a position to give you that consent, you cannot assume that you have that consent.”
Masina, a former star football player in Utah, faces a $250,000 bond.
