Yale Cuts 13 Security Positions

As a result of budget cuts, 13 Yale University security employees are being laid off as the department reorganizes, and some officials are less than thrilled with the idea.

Campus administrators said restructuring the security department will improve campus security, open career opportunities and save money, reports Yale Daily News. The new department will be split into two divisions. One will manage the university’s technical security systems; the other will manage the security officers.

Security officials who oppose the reorganization believe the changes will make the campus less safe because it will eliminate personnel with valuable experience.
